Meet the RopoTeam #3: SpaceSandwich

Hey there, folks! How's everyone doing?

We're still knee-deep in the development of Final Orginity v0.3.3. The journey has turned out to be, once again, longer than expected, but we're now closing in on some significant events and scenes. This will be a substantial update that will mark a new era in Amy's journey.

But today isn't about a progress report (that's coming soon). Today, we're wrapping up the Meet the Ropo Team series, and we're doing it with none other than the one-of-a-kind SpaceSandwich.

About SpaceSandwich:

Space Sandwich is the youngest member of Ropoductions. He has always been passionate about drawing characters and comics and has aspired to create video games since he was a kid. He pursued art college as soon as he could. After a year of marketing-focused graphic design, Space began to question if he was following his true passion. He took a step back and started a 3D Animation course, where he experienced working with a team to create public media for the first time.

Towards the end of this course, Space needed to complete internships with a real company, and that's when he met Salamin and Atom. Even after his college work ended, Space continued to collaborate with his new friends, and they eventually founded Ropoductions. Their first project? An erotic video game. Space saw the opportunity to pitch his ideas for the game's art style, even sketching a character that would become Amy, albeit with a different look. He also established the game's color palette, which was originally created by a pixel artist known online as Arne. That's how Space became part of the team... and the rest, as they say, is history.

As the lead pixel artist, Space Sandwich plays a mayor role in creating the art for all the scenes in Final Orginity. The process usually starts with Atom's concept art but ultimately comes to life with Space's digital touch, even with assistance from others. Space's art style leans towards a more cartoony and stylized approach, compared to Atom's grittier, detailed style. However, he has learned a lot from Atom, especially when it comes to things like anatomy.

Space also has some experience with programming, although he's primarily focused on drawing. Scripting the game is Salamin's domain, but Space is a valuable problem solver whenever bugs or unexpected issues arise. This coding knowledge also helps when conveying ideas to more experienced programmers. Currently, Space is experimenting with Godot.

Space Sandwich's childhood coincided with the peak of the Nintendo DS era, solidifying his love for Nintendo, retro games, and indie titles. He's not a fan of realistic art direction, as you can probably tell. Instead, he's a fan of surrealism and holds cryptic, unconventional games like YUME NIKKI in high regard. But his all-time favorite gaming experience, without a doubt, is the Mario and Luigi RPG series (excluding Paper Jam).

There you have it. Space is a bona fide nerd, just like the rest of the Ropoductions team. As his first 'boss' and current partner (Salamin speaking), I can attest that Space is a very talented and dedicated young artist who's truly passionate about everything he does. If you've enjoyed the art in Final Orginity, you owe him all the credit. Everything from the overall aesthetics, including the color palette to the quality of the animations, is the handiwork of Space Sandwich. If you like his work, you can find a lot of his art on the internet, which includes his many fonts and color palettes published by him.

Well, that's a wrap for today. With this post, we conclude the first series of Meet the Ropo Team. We'll keep pushing to release the next version in a matter of weeks. There's still work to be done, but we'll do our best not to disappoint.

So, peeps, you know the drill. Stay happy and take good care of yourselves...
and keep in mind that the new version is slowly cooking in the RopOven.

Stay tuned,

Ropo
