Q&A (Summer 2024 edition)

Hey, hey, people,

Hello! How are you doing? Here in Ropo City, the scorching summer is back, and the ropo-team already is hard at work in the ropo-cave on the next update.

As usual, after releasing the latest update, it's time to answer questions that you have sent us a few weeks ago. This time, Space and I (Salamin) have answered to 12 of your questions that reached us through our differents channels such as this site, our Discord server, and our F95 thread.

Alright... Let's dive in!

1. How did you start out? Were you working a full time job while starting to develop? Were you originally a game developer or did you work (/are you working) in another field? (Ion.TemUS, F95)

Salamin: I have a bachelor in Spanish Philology and was working as a Spanish teacher for international students here in Valencia, but my passion has always been writing and telling stories. We started an animation project a few years ago and brought Space on board to help. That project hasn't materialized yet, but it led to the development of what we now know as Final Orginity. Now I balance teaching with creative writing. The rest is history...

Space: I was only finishing studying at an art and design college when I started my internship in the multimedia studio where I met the other core members of Ropoductions. At the time I started drawing characters for a different project, a cartoon, but it was something ambitious that we couldn’t do alone so in the meantime we gave a try to something that Atom had actually already been experimenting with, making a game with RPGMaker.

2. When are those horsemen scenes coming that were teased all the way back in the first demo?  (Ion.TemUS, F95)

Salamin: Regarding the horsemen, after Huck's initial tease, we have added some more equine content... However, I would expect to see juicy horseman content in the later stages of the game.

Space: Yeah what we hinted at will appear eventually but we have to continue the story until then, in the meantime, some horsemen have and will appear sometimes.

3. If possible I’d like to hear more about your thoughts on how Final Orginity is panning out.  (Gordon Ramsay, Patreon)

Salamin: I am quite happy with the game and its development. We have been very ambitious in planning the story and its branches (sometimes it even gives me anxiety just thinking about everything we still have left to do). But I believe we are doing well so far and that people generally enjoy Final Orginity. My ultimate goal is to create a deep and interesting game capable of emotionally impacting the player (not just on a sexual level).

Space: I’m happy with the game so far, we’re managing to pack a lot of story and characters and that’s exactly what I want Final Orginity to stand out for, we always have all the lore in our heads even if it’s not revealed in game but it will be in the future, specially if you look well enough for secrets (I’m excited for how people will react to my ideas). Something I can say now is that I want to explore places outside of Sta Polla, as well as “behind” Sta Polla (Should’t clarify what that means).

4. Thoughts on the response to the game?  (Gordon Ramsay, Patreon)

Salamin: Developing an indie game involves spending hours and hours alone in front of a computer without much feedback except for what happens inside our own heads...it's not always easy. This is where you all come in. Knowing that what we are doing isn't a waste of time and that we are creating something valued by many people is my main motivation to keep going. Reading your messages and words of support are the biggest drive (even above money) that gets me excited to continue Amy's story every day.

Space: I’m especially thankful to hear from like-minded people who appreciate that this is a fully fledged novel instead of just another cookie cutter collection of scenes. You’ve probably heard how “kids movies don’t have to be noisy slop, they can be good movies no matter who they are for”, well it’s the same for erotic media to me, I want to make a game that people will play for longer and then remember after.

5. Any scenes you wanted to add that patreon said went too far? (Gordon Ramsay, Patreon)

Space: We haven’t actually heard from Patreon disapproving of anything but we did end up modifying one Rokas route scene to tone down the humiliation aspect as a preventive measure.

6. Also if you plan to create more female protagonist games in the future. (Gordon Ramsay, Patreon)

Salamin: First, we need to finish this game...which still has a long ways to go.

Space: well why not! Currently we don’t know what we’ll do after Final Orginity, We jokingly talked about spin offs but I would go for something new.

7. I'm also curious about your experience with game development since the quality here is really high. Do you guys still plan to make more adult games moving forward? (SiuKim, F95)

Salamin: One of my biggest dreams is to turn Ropoductions into a sustainable company focused on developing adult games. So of course, we have ideas and plans for making more games… but all in due time.

Space: Yeah I want to make more stuff, I’ve never run out of ideas to be honest, and I usually test stuff at home too. Maybe one of my personal stuff will see the light.

8. If someone eats a sandwich with salami is it considered cannibalism towards the devs "Salamin", "Spacesandwich"? (Geo, Discord)

Salamin: I wouldn't say “cannibalism”… I’d say something more like “heresy”.

Space: Yes it is cannibalism feel free to do it.

9. Will there be any dlc content - after ending content?(Geo, Discord)

Salamin: If we reach that point of development, I'm almost sure that we will.

Space: We would have to see how that would work but if it’s possible there’s no reason why not.

10. What's the devs dream? Not specifically for final orginity but in general what's a dream yall have as a development team. (Geo, Discord)

Salamin: I've mentioned before that my greatest dream is perhaps to turn Ropoductions into a full-fledged video game company. Additionally, I also work on fiction, animation, and documentary projects simultaneously. Being able to bring my ideas to life and seeing how something from my imagination could potentially serve the videogame, cinema or television industry is another dream of mine.

Space: Of course I would continue making games but not only games, I would also like to work on animation shows or movies too. Always being on the creative spot of course. I think I have ideas that don’t actually work as games so getting to make a show one day would be awesome.

11. What's a piece of medium you highly recommend? Be it Film, Play, Book ect. (Xerlexer, Discord)

Salamin: I'm sure if you asked me this question each time, I would give a different answer...but either way, here's a list of random stuff that, in one way or another, helped inspire Final Orginity:

(NEVER FORGET THE WONDERFUL UNIVERSE OF WARHAMMER AND WARHAMMER 40K).

Space: In the RPG department, the best ones are Earthbound, Mario & Luigi, and if you haven’t played Yume Nikki try it right now, it’s its 20th anniversary btw.

Also I must mention Homestuck, a webcomic/novel, reading it is a bit of a challenge but I would say it inspired me quite a bit.

12. Why name the studio/circle "Ropo"? What's the origin/meaning of the term? When I googled it, I find the so-called "Research online, purchase offline", shortened to Ropo, but I doubt this term has anything to do with Ropoduction lol (Tomner, Discord)

Salamin: One of the Ropo Guys explains the meaning of ROPO during the game… Speak with the bald one at Rokas camp if you wanna know the truth!
