2024-02-13 00:20:54 +0000 UTCThe hedges seem like great examples of looking to the intelligence of Nature for solutions, as in the no-waste circular economy you mentioned. Perhaps we can use biomimicry to model collective insects in our transition away from capitalism. After all, they have been doing it successfully for what, millions of years. I think there is some evidence that humans have aspects of a hive mind, or the potential for one.

A few years back the farmers removed alot of the hedges around their fields and replaced them with fences. This caused mice, shrew and hedge nesting bird populations to drop, most importantly it tanked the barn owl population. A breed that were at risk for endangerment at the time. They took action and put the hedges back and now all these species are thriving again! There is a solution, we just need to do it!
