EARLY ACCESS: Is The US Headed Towards Fascism?

It's time we really took a hard look at the state of fascism in the US. If we want to prevent it from becoming entrenched and seizing power as it's done in the past, we need to start now.

If I'm not mistaken, the Canadian Parliament is debating a similar piece of hideous legislation. This is pure tragedy. Next they'll be making it a"crime" to be labelled a "self-hating" Jew.

I love what she said on “Sabby Sabs” about Portland. However, her comment about the outskirts of Portland negated what you were saying----it’s a common misconception that gets repeated. You were talking about what lies under Portland Liberal veneer within those who uphold Portland liberal veneer. Those same liberals who are responsible for the opportunistic feeding provided by unequal structures, leading to racial gentrification of Portland’s Black neighborhoods. Those same people would call Black people racist for bringing up the opportunism. Also, there are the pseudo-socialist subgroup (They’re more like a manifestation of a right-wing cartoon representing their propagandistic view of socialism) who don’t take the time to understand socialism but really like the label, who refuse to acknowledge institutional racism and uphold it. 2024-05-02 17:29:40 +0000 UTCYeah I've noticed since Trump that hundreds more hate groups have sprung up on the Southern Poverty Law Center's site, a lot of religious groups and branches of those groups. They're going to feel more emboldened regardless of election results. I think in the last ten years I've had to deal with three instances of angry white men, the most recent one with one coming at me because he sees a stranger in a hoodie and assumes a car jacking. Thank God my partner was with me, but it's going to get frustrating having to cpnstantly worry about all the aspiring Rittenhouses just waiting for an excuse. I can't imagine what it's going to be like living down South. :(

He calls the police on me, had tried to steal my cat, and routinely insulted (she moved) the womyn who lived across from him for being black. And you're right- he's the worst kind of coward. I could write for an hour or two just describing the madness of dealing with this twisted ideological barbarism being directed at you for a): not hating Jews b): for being on the left (he can't even get the word "Socialist" post his lips; he's convinced my roommate to label me "Communist" by proxy hahaha neither know anything about it!) and c): for being, you guessed it, a "race traitor." Now, I live in London, Canada so aside from a reactionary bunch of truckers blockading or capital his compatriots are all online but......I have to believe class consciousness will come to our countries because these ignominious maggots are more organized than we are. 2024-05-02 02:21:51 +0000 UTCThe mythological nature of fascism is interesting to me in that it fills a void in peoples' sense of identity left in the absence of strong cultural roots connected with psychologically nourishing archetypal symbols and narratives for the subconscious to identify with. Some narratives and myths and symbols provide healthy ways of existing that evolved in a sustainable way within a particular culture in relation to a particular environment, while others provide toxic and warped patterns. Not that indigenous cultures are all perfectly socially progressive, but rather that the shamanic and animistic worldviews that inform ancestral mythologies provide a strong sense of identity and cultural belonging and connection with the Earth that is lacking for many people in modern civilization. Mythological religions like Paganism or Christianity or Hinduism can serve quite progressive purposes (e.g. MLK Jr., Tolstoy, Gandhi, etc.), or they can be coopted by fascists for their own purposes.

People like to cry about fascism but the only change is they are doing these things to white folks. So maybe fascism is just when Capitalism turns completely on the dominant group it used to protect in order to undermine thier solidarity with other workers?
