Deck of Many Esoteric Things

Part of our upcoming project is a set of 22 tarot cards based upon the Deck of Many Things but with weirder effects. Like for example: The Snail.

The Snail. A snail climbs up an axe handle. When drawn, the character transforms over the course of several days.

Ø First, the character excretes a thin, sticky film that covers their body. They cannot be disarmed, and they can climb sheer surfaces with an 80% success rate.

Ø 1d3 days later, the character’s eyes extend from their sockets on 12” long eye stocks. The character can no longer be surprised (360-degree vision), peak around corners, and has infravision 60’.

Ø 1d3 days later, the character’s bones become soft and jelly like. The character can squeeze through spaces 1” in diameter. They gain +1HD.

Ø 1d3 days later, the character grows a large shell, it gets larger by the hour until finally it bursts out of any clothes or armor restraining it. The character is treated as always wearing chainmail. A character could wear other armor or plate mail, but it does not stack with their AC. The character’s AC is whichever is highest.

1d3 days later, the character’s legs are replaced with a pseudopod. Their speed is reduced to 30’ (10’).
