New Membership Tier: Fantastic $4

Hello everyone! We are changing up our Patreon tier levels. The first big change we are rolling out is the names of our tiers. In the tier descriptions you'll see a little note about the inspiration for the name change, and some fun math that shows you how we want to spend the money you donate to this Patreon.

Right now there are around 100 of you, and you've stuck by us even while we didn't post any new Patreon-exclusive content for six months. We appreciate you. We thank you. And we think you're amazing, fantastic, incredible, magnificent, and uncanny. We've renamed our tiers appropriately.

Amazing $1 - Our lowest tier. You help keep the lights on, and by lights I mean the servers for our website. Right now there are about 70 of you. If we could grow this tier to 100 Patrons, it would cover our server costs, and we wouldn't have to borrow money from the other tiers to put towards these costs.

Fantastic $4 - Our new highlighted tier. Named after the first family of comics, this tier is our "family" tier. You help support our WWAC family by allowing us to offer payment for essays by emerging writers. Right now our current rate is $40 for an essay. 10 Patrons at this level will pay for one essay per month.

Incredible $5 - Our legacy tier, or Hulk-sized version of our fantastic family tier, with the same purpose. We imagined that for every 10 Patrons subscribed at this tier, we would be able to pay $50 for an essay. So, 10 Patrons = 1 essay, 20 Patrons = 2 essays, etc. We never grew as fast as we thought we could, so right now, the "overflow" from this tier is put towards the website costs while also supporting a paid essay.

Magnificent $10 - If you're good at math (which I am not) you'll have already figured out that 4 Patrons at $10 a month is the same as 10 Patrons at $4 a month. This is true. However, the hope for this tier is that the money will be put towards the new artist-in-residence program. The artist-in-residence program is currently at six months, so with 5 Patrons pledged at this level for six months, we are able to offer the artist-in-residence microgrant for that same time period. That's why after 6 months of no content, we announced the first artist-in-residence, and structured the payment as one lump sum.

Uncanny $20 - When this Patreon first launched, this tier was promised consultation from industry editors who volunteered for WWAC. Those editors have since moved on from WWAC. So now, like our favorite mutants, this tier allows the WWAC family to grow in new and creative ways. Maybe we use this money to increase the amount of paid essays. Maybe we increase the amount of money the writers get for those essays. Maybe we use this money to start a podcast to interview some of our favorite WWAC family members on their projects.
