I'll admit I have been a Carat almost 2 years now and had no idea this show existed, so again I am glad to be watching with you. With that said like you mentioned and others have commented these kind of survival/drama reality shows I do not like to watch because I do not agree with the methods used to make artist "great", because unfortunately the objective is also to make good TV, so the trauma that is induced is often for good tv ratings and to have you feel sorry for the artist that you root for them and become a fan. Still I did like to read above that the PD did push for the show to not be a survival show, that they were not willing to get rid of anyone, especially since they seemed to already be established, and thus pushed for this concept instead. I could definitely tell the CEO was turning it on for drama sake because the boys response to him was almost like "where is this seriousness coming from", their laughing, and speaking comfortably about the experience would not have been so, if the CEO was the typical tyrant/mean type. Anyway this is too long, but I am looking forward to taking part in this journey with you, even with GoSe, there are still quite a few episodes I have not seen. Also quick to thank you to the poster who posted the Weverse Going Series guide, I am on there and do not remember ever receiving a notification that this existed.

I want to tell you (even though, probably you won't see this because.. so many comments 😅) that is the only part that is dramatic and unnecesarily tough for them. From now on it gets better. I do recommend some handkerchiefs or papel tower sjsj because is emotional. AND, the ring thing is worth it. The result is at least proportional to the stress🥹🥺. One of the most beautiful moments (you Will cry). I do think they could have done that scene without taking the rings though!! But you know, at the end of the day ... it was a tv show, a reality tv show 🙄 they needeed the drama (😴)... and, I forgot (edit) Now that I have seen this so many times, it is so clear to me how experiences make you or shape you to be who you are. Because, if you remember Dk mentions that he wanted to take from that experience a member building relationship. Not many people talk about this, but the members have said that not until they received the rings and debut were really friends, family maybe, but that was not in their minds, at least not for all of them. And, for me is clear now that they have grown so well. As you guys mentioned not many people or few people would take this anxiety and stress and learned to deal with it or try to deal with it, but they did it. They manage to trust and take care of each other, support each other. Take roles that surely were not supposed to be taken by them. To be a brother, a hyung, sometimes maybe a fatherlike figure. To learn to respect each others even though, they were just kids and adolescentes or young adults. They did it. All of this experiences shape them to be the wonderlful, gentleman, honest, heartful, careful, protectors, good human beings , having the brotherhood that they have now 🥹. Sorry, I know too long shhaha. I'm so proud of them

2024-09-07 09:30:49 +0000 UTCTo add a little bit of context to the timing of this show - Seventeen were already recording their first album and finalising the debut concept at this point. So while it absolutely(!) was nerve-wracking and shocking for them at times, they were quite confident that they are going to debut (and will obviously have live stages on TV after that). The biggest worry was actually the timing for their debut, since it was already postponed a few times over a couple of years (probably because of an unsteady financial situation at Pledis). So in fact they were very glad to get a reality show - because they finally got some sponsors and debut was a guarantee at this point. They were doing weekly livestreams around that time and you could see them telling everyone about the show. They were so excited to show it to their family and friends! On a real TV! (it was so cute lol). Debut broadcast was definitely a nice bonus! but maybe because they already had held quite a few performances to a live croud and had a sizeable fanbase, tbh I haven't got a feeling that it was as important for them as this show made it seem. And everything else like that "real artists" speech from CEO was an obvious drama, he was actually a pretty nice guy all things considered.

2024-09-05 04:31:16 +0000 UTCyesss I'm excited! for what it's worth, I think the first episode is the heaviest on the reality show/survival/tense nonsense imo - or at least, the way the rest of the show goes, it's pretty obvious they're all going to be okay as things go on. But it is good to watch to understand baby, pre-debut Seventeen, and how they talk about their trainee days even now.

Debuting is already a brutal process for any idols, but these survivor-show producers make it even worse by adding unnecessary tortures and dramas. I'll continue to support your channel, but I'll probably tap out and not watch the 17-project with you. It's just not good for my mental health. I'll join you for Going Seventeen 💎💎💎💎💎

I personally think they made the first mission so impossible because they were going to take their rings anyways, and they needed to make it believable. If they had let them practice and prepare, they would've been just like, they're ready to go! lol

Even though the show is harsh at times and quite emotional at others, knowing how much success they find in the future eases some of the anxiety of watching. For going seventeen, I think it's best to watch in order as much as possible (at least from the point where it started to become a variety show around 2019). The members and the editors (especially) make a lot of references to previous episodes and previous jokes even when the overarching concepts differ. Even though the show is still funny without knowing them, things will make a lot more sense and will be exponentially funnier when you see the progression of their comedy in real time. The exceptions for me would be when they're role playing or the content is story-based (eg. SVT's Got Talent, Bad Clue, Wonwoo's Diary, Ego, Grudge, and the comeback specials). Obviously, the ultimate decision is yours, and I don't even know if this is the right place to be saying all this when you mentioned asking for more details later in the 17 project series. Sorry for the wordy comment, and I look forward to watching the rest of the series with you!

Seeing these boys here and knowing what we know of them now, it's so heartwarming that they're essentially still the same, just polished by life and their time in the industry. As for the harshness of taking away the rings and tearing them down, I agree with what you said that it was too much. Rationally, I understand that the producers needed to add drama to the show itself. Unlike other debut reality shows where the drama and narrative revolves around who makes it into the debut team, for Seventeen, the team is already set and no one is getting eliminated. I assume they (PDs) needed to add drama somehow for the show itself to be broadcasted by MBC. I just wish they thought of something else or that the drama weren't necessary in the first place.

Also is so hard to watch. Its such a vulnerable moment for them, and they were so young 😭 dino was barely 16 poor kid i watched 17project right after becoming a carat and had decided never again 🤣 but I'm here again, and will be watching with you because besides the hard feelings, there are also good memories from it. soooo, let's keep ourselves strong to go through this, and fighting!!!! thanks for the video as always, and hope you guys are enjoying the 17 diamond life!!! ♡♡ ps.: can we talk abou poor minghao and jun 😭 they couldn't even read korean well enough, but they were doing great! so proud of them

But this show really showcases Seventeen’s dedication to creating a great performance and you can tell they took a lot of the lessons in the show seriously and worked on it over the years. Also want to show appreciation for Vice president of Pledis, Bumzu (Main Producer alongside Woozi) & Hyelim (Performance Director of Seventeen) who will show up next episode. They have been with the boys since trainee days. FYI, Hyelim also showed up in Nana Tour episode 1 since she is also in charge of concert performances.

They don't even take it off for photoshoots or musicals or tv dramas, they prefer to tape over it and cover with makeup over taking it off. Like subconsciously they are still afraid someone's gonna take it from them. As for the ceo, he is fine, kind of incompetent but essentially harmless as ceos go. He isn't their ceo anymore but still shows up to their concerts to watch them and you guys saw him too, in nana tour. He was the dude wearing pajama shorts, drinking coke at 4am who had no idea they were getting kidnapped. He hugged DK and Minghao told him to book him another schedule later because CEO was worried Hao was upset, Hoshi was whining to him that why did he buy them drinks the night before if he knew they were getting kidnapped today😂😂

2024-09-03 15:34:45 +0000 UTCSorry for another comment ^^ I also have an emotional roller coaster when I watched this in 2015 back then ㅜㅜ Just some insight, after seventeen won MAMA last year, the PD who work on this shows reveals that when Pledis and MBC make a deal for the reality show, PD asked what type of show pledis wanna do. Back in the era where trainee survival show is so popular to boost up engagement and build fandom, PD suggested to make survival show. but Pledis said no. It is because their number could easily to make 6-members boygroup-to-debut survival show, Pledis has no intention to eliminate any members from the lineup. Reason is this 13 boys were the only trainee left in the almost-bankrupt-company at the time. So PD ask pledis, then what would motivate them, make the show fun and invokes emotion if its not a survival (drama) show? The CEO said, one thing he noticed that after pledis gave them the ring, they were so happy and it become so precious to them that they wore it everywhere and anywhere. Thus PD got the idea and create the 17 project based on the ring.. the rest was history.. just sharing especially for the baby carats out there! and have fun on this roller coaster journey ride into the diamond life~!

2024-09-03 15:31:21 +0000 UTCso happy to finally re-watch 17 Project with with you! this is one of my favorite project to introduce someone to seventeen, they worked so hard before this and during the filming. seeing them here and where they are now, such a growth. they were already nicknamed "monster rookies" w/o even debuting, you know they were always going to succeed. the ring ceremony, the talk about their important people, everything was fate. I do share your sentiments about how they handle this situation, yet at that time that's how the industry worked and changed for the better today. I guess them being left with nothing but their trust and faith in each is what built up the SVT we have today. as for CEO Han Sungsoo (HSS) is a nice guy tho. like, pledis fandoms might not like him that much but he used to listen to us back in the day. he's still close with the members and adores them a lot. can't wait for the next episode!!

It's a rollercoaster ride indeed (and prep tissues if you must!), but when I watched this as a baby carat before, it really heightened my feelings of pride and even more love for them when I saw them in this show fighting for their dream and finally reached it, and then knowing where they are now.. yeah. That feeling. Really excited to rewatch it with your comments too, bec I like how you guys talk about things and thoughts while and after the episode. Going seventeen, unlike usual idols content were well established with GOINGVERSE (Going Universe) where a deep inside joke was weaved within every show.. But since you already watched ITS 1&2, Nana Tour and now 17 project (one fine day 1-2 also contain tons of inside jokes reference) i think you are there enough to just watch going seventeen by theme and not episode sequences.
