The core design elements were the circular repositories powered by mana crystals and the need to be sleek as his role as a saboteur. Pure warriors and infantry would have much bulkier armor and built in weapons, while the Prisoner's suit wouldn't read as magic until he was actively using it.
As an aside the mana eggs the breeder hounds laid would power the suit.
