So there's a hidden in plain sight ambush. How did it come to this and what were the other options?

Prisoner did not know if he'd win in a straight fight. So he would have tried to consider his options based on what he knew of his enemies through the girls he has already captured. His advantage is that he knows most detection magic will not catch him but would pick up on Crusher. His mobility is restricted from the leg shackles and the enemy has a flight advantage.

The Prisoner's first idea was to try a pincer attack with Crusher in a narrow tunnel. This would restrict the Insight's squad the ability to fly and kite him while pressuring them from two angles. The reason he did not was that this would've had a high chance for Crusher's death.

Crusher could've charged in from behind but the heartbeat would've detected her while he was obviously approaching from the wrong direction. He knew Insight's magical shield wall would've stopped him for a few moments, leaving Crusher to face the Ravens and Insight alone. Unacceptable chances for losing her.

He needed a plan where their entire focus to be on him instead of their surroundings. He could take the damage while Crusher could not.
