This reveal hints to the readers who do not have these entries that this battle has moved to the Prisoner's strategy all along. And for pacing reasons I have to consider most readers in the future will be skimming over the content at light speed. Its easy to miss details and think about the motivations page by page when there will be another hundred pages before the book is over.
So why is the Prisoner bulking up? As stated before his regeneration is going haywire. This is a sign of weakness caused by him absorbing too much mana from his shackles and the excessive damage he has taken encourages bodily changes. This points to the hint from before, the Prisoner is a monster.
There is another reason as well. With the addition Aegis, the Patron voted male custodian, the characters need a bit of a change. They are too similar in hair style, body type, and even the hair color. Aegis will be more prominent in book 2. And here I'm laying the foundations of a noticeable frame difference where the Prisoner will look bulkier. Just not to this degree shown on this page.
And apologies for the late entry. My ADD got the better of me.
