Self-delusion and bluster work to a degree, but the other person has to buy into it. So with the other girls, it was about using fear and hijacking authority to defeat them. Whisper (Sha'ra) is different.
The other girls were selfish and self-serving. Sha'ra is not much better, but her redeeming feature is that she cherishes her friends and wants the best for them. Her friendships and how she treats them makes up for the ugly aspects of her existence. But the Prisoner is telling her how hollow that life is.
She knows that she and her friends will die for the Elvish cause. A sacrifice of her friends throughout an endless war of conquest. For greed and not her religion, which has always been a lie. And she is not okay with it. She is neither on a path to seeing her nightmares unfold. This is the angle that the Prisoner is using to break her. But let's see if it'll work.
Now... why is he telling her the rules of this place? Warden is here. This is a teaching moment for the Prisoner.
