This is of course a secret. You cannot say to army that their purpose is to secure land to plant the Armageddon inducing world trees. Some words are just bad for morale.
Of course, this is not the Elves' preferred outcome. They would prefer to be able to relocate off planet in a space ship, or escape by magical means. Some kind of manner in which to preserve their strength and use this planet as a staging ground. But even in failure, they ensured that their ultimate goal would succeed. It is a sacrifice the Divinities were willing to make.
As for the Side Story - Necromancers have won by a large margin! I'm writing up a story on Altagracia, one of the Eternal Empire's Princesses.
