He's been careful enough to take his time here, supremely confident he can waltz into the heart of the enemy's tower and target their heirs. The Prisoner is a saboteur of a different class. In my view this is a matter of social engineering and magical signature mimicry. Subtle mind magic, super pheromones', spells crafted for stealth, and a confident demeanor are his tools. Still, he knows he can only do this once and he wants to enjoy his time.
I wanted the Prisoner to interact with an innocent bystander. Not Warden, who he feels indebted to, nor an enemy he plans to destroy. I wanted to show that when kindness costs nothing he will indulge in it. Villains with redeeming qualities are much more compelling. Complexity matters, like when a writer depicts the thoughts of a 'good aligned' sociopath in a novel.
Woo- these pages are really tough. It's a combination of trying to cram as much story as possible into one page creating multiple panels and just the design of characters in color as well. Something to consider when writing and designing the page. It's a good challenge. The characters need to be stylishly iconic. There can be large amounts of details in the costume, but the color separations itself need to simple.
I'm learning so much!
