Added 2023-08-18 22:13:06 +0000 UTCInsight's orbs simply change the center of origin of her given spells. There is no shrapnel involved. The explosion is a pure fireball of fire and pressure changes. And the clothing the Owls and Ravens wear are heat resistant and very protective. Insight's hand however were too close to the center.
On another note, I'm going to be working on concepts for what the Owls and Ravens look like under their clothing. I'll post it instead of a comic page after this chapter is over. I'll ask for suggestions for references in Discord chat. See you guys Monday.

Guns: They exist but this is a world of hoarded knowledge based on how magic works. Guns would be kept secret. Magic can also do what guns can, and they are much more useful. There isn't the impetus of developing technology as much. And you are right. Technological advancement slows down with the use of slaves. Warden's world is no different in that regard. Goblins: Two versions -1. Goblin Slayer male centric parasite race. 2. Female sex sluts - bio-engineered by the humans from Prisoner's society to subjugate alien species by other means. The goblins have been mixed with human dna to easily breed with alien lifeforms. Births are frequently a female goblin/hybrid, which breeds out in a few generations. The purpose is to make the aliens more appealing to humans and vice versa. Diplomacy is easier when the races want to fuck each other.

Combat gives me an impression of a mix of barbarian Conan and anime fights which weirdly works. I'm guessing guns aren't a thing on this planet? I imagine there can't be very many places that focus on tech development considering how widespread slavery still is. I'm curious what goblins are like in your universe and if they're the high tech good species if the Elves are the evil horde race.

The enemy is mostly uninjured now and that's not true for them but now their own weapons can be used against them. Of course, Insight might still think she can win... "Good heavens...are you still trying to win? You've got an over developed sense of vengeance. It's going to get you into trouble someday."
