Let's bring over a chat from discord and talk about Custodians.
Divinities have a large role in handing out Custodian ranks. Many normal half-elves become Custodians, even if they do not deserve the rank. With the rank they have access to better equipment, training, and magical enhancers (think cultivation pills). Oftentimes it is viewed as a mark of favor. It's not the only method. In this time of war, most Custodian titles are given to those with exceptional battle achievements. I believe I've mentioned these in lore entries before, but let's go into how each of the Custodians in the comic gained their rank.
- Whisper was the sole survivor of her Raven scout team after preventing an ambush from an enemy army.
- Crusher demanded to be the frontline vanguard as a Sparrow for every battle she served in, being the first to break enemy lines several times until her fellow Sparrows started chanting her name.
- Insight was scholastically gifted and trained to become a Custodian due to her talents.
- Grace was born from a Divinity's family. She was trained from birth and given the rank. Which is one of the reasons Crusher hates her.
- Aegis is a full elf and was given the best training available to serve as the Divinity's bodyguard.
