Let's talk about the Engrams and the bugs! In psychology, engrams are a unit cognitive information imprinted in the physical substance of the brain. So it's a unit of how memory works. It's a term used for learning and memorization.

Insight views these foreign thoughts as a parasite slowly replacing a person's thoughts. She realizes that the engram by its nature has a limit in knowledge and growth potential. To her, the engram is a parasitic low intelligent insect devouring and replacing a person's mind. She is not entirely correct in her interpretation as it doesn't devour the brain to fuel itself. But it guides the thoughts to use a foreign set of knowledge, emotions, and instincts over their own. Viewed in another way, she is not wrong. Grace has psychopathy, and she is being forced to feel entirely new emotions and empathy based on her engram alone.

So part of what this means is that each of the mind worms have a slightly different appearance based on what type of hound they would become. Especially the production types such as the breeders and milk hounds, which would be plump caterpillars. Which we will see shortly.
