Care is taken to preserve the previously hidden inscription and the retouching is executed with reversible materials in a manner that's more respectful of the painting. And after all the work we finally see what General Hamilton looked like standing proud in his battle armor for his grand portrait.

I am book marking this for your canvas stretching / extending technique. I would love to see a video of you stretching a canvas like you were going to paint it. I've seen a few tutorials, and honestly I think you would be able to explain it better than anyone else.
