2024-09-17 22:18:19 +0000 UTCI would like to bring up a few counter points. 1: if I am not mistaken, space marine armor is stronger then Mordern day tank armor. It has to be to stand up to the things space marines have to stand up to. So while I agree that the depleted uranium round would turn any space marine into Gaz. I don’t believe the 50. Cal will, without out sustained fire on a single spot. 2: a standard lasgun can punch throguh like a meter of concrete and the bolt gun appears to be more powerful then those (from how I understood it) so it should be able to at least put some holes in the tank. 3: the marine could definitely rip the tank open if he got close 4: unless the tank gets the element of surprise, I don’t think they will be able to hit the marine with the main canon just because of how fast a marine can move and how fast they can react to thinks. It would be like trying to hit a fly with a nerf gun. It could happen, but good fucking luck But that is just my thoughts on it, if you got any counter points I would love to hear em

Tanks, especially Abrahams, have extremely accurate optics that allow for accurate fire, even when the tank is on the move; if it can target vichicles moving at 60 mph speeds it can hit a Space Marine. It has been frustrating to see us move away from armor. Even a line squad would give headaches to a lone Space Marine with all of the anti armor assets we've been plusing into the squad and team level. Im not saying a squad would win, but we'd give it a real headache. But, tanks move with a platoon. Platoons have weapons attachments like 240s and MAAWS. 240s may not cut it but a MAAW shot is at very least immobilizing whatever it hits. Abrahams have 50s and M19s on top so if its not moving its getting a lead and HE shower.

2024-07-23 22:03:06 +0000 UTCAs a Marine Corps vet, normal 40mm grenade launcher rounds, which are essentially bolter rounds, aren't going to penetrate most spots on a modern tank at a normal shooting distance. However, that doesn't mean the concussion isn't going to rock and disorient the crew. That said, a tank round and 50 cal rounds are a good way to probably take out a space marine assuming their armor is less than or equal to a modern battle tank like the Abrams. I mean I believe off the top of my head it's something ridiculous like 210mm's of modern tank armor can be penetrated by a depleted uranium tank round even at a 45 degree angle and the angles matter a lot when it comes to penetrate armor. Now whether the tank crew would win or the space Marine in a 1 v 1 would depend entirely on the distance between the two. If the Space Marine can get on top of that tank and close that gap. He could probably just wait out the crew or at point blank range with the bolter be able to penetrate certain spots on the tank. However, this all depends on the munitions that you're giving this space Marine. Plasma weaponry, meltaguns, and power weapons are going to win most likely. But I would say a Marine on a 50 cal would have a chance against a space marine. Not a great one. but a chance none the less. the Ma Deuce (M2 50 Cal) is quite a weapon and can penetrate light armored vehicles even without fancy rounds. that's my 2 cents.

And unless the tank surprises the SM its unlikely to land a hit. The hit would prolly mess the SM up pretty good if not kill it, but with how fast they are the tank has horrible chances to land that hit.

Or at least remove them from effective combat.

However a small ‘compared to another thank’ and fast moving. A modern tank would have a hard time hitting a space marines moving at a run. Then if you have a krak or melta bomb in the right place. Should not be a problem

Besides the armor you have a whole series of weapons and defensive tools that would give Space Marines issues. But what does it for me is there are ALWAYS at least 2 tanks as they never deploy alone, and they have infantry escorts always. I love Warhammer but space marine armor is not stopping a MAAW rocket, let alone an Abraham's cannon. Even if there is magic and the armor isn't breached, the kinetic impact of either is turning him to goo inside the armor no matter how augmented they are. The Space Marines will need a terminator or several meltas, with at least a squad+ of support.

About the only effective weapon they would have is a power sword, as the bolter's .75 caliber, (around 20mm), wouldn't be able to penetrative any of the armor, and strong as they are, it's not like they can just throw 70ish tons of tank. Also, any injuries sustained during field testing of this theory are classified, and therefore, not service related.

The Crusade was countering the supposed Cathar heretic movement in southern France. The town of Beziers was besieged by crusaders and this quote is accredited to the Crusader Commander of the siege. Historians don't know if this is a true quote as we only have a single reference ( I believe). However some historians still bring it up for, by all accounts of the siege itself, the Crusaders executed everyone in the town for being either a Heretic or an accomplice to harboring the heretics by resisting the crusader siege. -Take it from a dude with two history degrees. Hope this contextualizes this bit of historical trivia for folks :)
