2024-12-12 00:53:37 +0000 UTCPhD here, about the acid stuff you guys mentioned about the hellfire, HCl (hydrochloric acid) doesn't absorb into your bloodstream but it does sting after some time (depending on the concentration the pain and exposure time varies). In terms of scary acids aqua regia and piranha solution are worse. Aqua regia gives off HCl gas and has nitric acid and hydrogen peroxide in it. So it will burn you outside and in if you make a mistake. Also, it eats through gloves pretty quickly. After dipping my fingers in (fairly) safe amounts of acid (PhD chemist, it was a demonstration on safety) nitric acid hurts the most, sulphuric is close then hydrochloric. For the hydrofluoric acid, it doesn't really hurt as its mechanism as an acid is not that good. What is scary is that it LOVES calcium (like the stuff in your bones) and if you get any on you, you need immediate attention as it dissolves our bones by binding to calcium ions (making the bones brittle) A few safety data sheets recommend drinking milk to help in the meantime.
