Trip at Japan Expo 2023

Once per year, we have the Japan Expo in France, a big event related to cosplay, anime and japanese culture. It last for 4 days, with >250 000 peoples coming there from all Europe. Through the KaoKig association, we've gather there and built up a booth to initiate people to a very particular kind of cosplay : the animegao kigurumi of course !

We managed to bring kigu from 6 countries (France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, United Kingdom and Israël) for a total of 15+ performers ! It was a massive challenge to setup everything, but we did it :D

It was a powerful human experience. The people were amazed by our characters and the kigu itself, some others were completly scared :D (which is even funnier >:3 ). Lot of kids wanted to have a picture with us, some even asked for trying our demonstration kigu mask. We met a lot of amazing cosplayers from many universe... Halo, Star Wars, Warhammer 40k, DbD, Avengers, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Lord of the Rings, clearly I was in my natural environment !

We enjoyed a lot of animation there, we were drawed by some very skilled artists, had the opportunity to play baseball at the Tomcat's booth, and we also have our moment of glory when we went to the Kitsune scene... thousands of people watching us ! I also get on the top of some Hummer which was turned into a micro scene !

The icing on the cake ? We also made an apparition on one of the most important french TV channel (France 3), yup.

When the time came to say goodbye... something strong happened, many of us had tears running on the face... I realise that sometimes, kigu isn't just a hobby, but bring us closer, to the point I felt like belonging to a sort of alternative familly.. I will never forget this moment.

No regrets ! That was my best kigu experience so far ! See you all for the next Japan Expo edition ;)
