Patreon Billing Update, Poll Results
Added 2021-05-22 21:27:44 +0000 UTCOkay so looking over the poll results from this week, I think I will be switching back to the normal Patreon 'once per month' billing system, rather than per-creation. Now you may be wondering how that effects your pledges and the good news is this approach will mean people get charged less. Given what people have said about being confused by the per-creation system my hope is that simplifying things will pay off in terms of MORE patrons over charging less patrons more.
SO WHAT HAPPENS TO MY PLEDGE?
Firstly, your tier choice remains exactly as it was. This of course I imagine is most important to the members of the limited tier, but yes, you're spots are still secure. Patreon will automatically convert your pledge into a once-per month pledge equal to your old, per-creation pledge amount so:
If you were pledged $3 for up to 5 creations a month, your new pledge will be $3/month.
If you were pledged $3 for 1 creation per month, your pledge will be $3/month.
According to the Patreon support page, it's best to convert pledge styles at the start of a month because of billing stuff so I won't be converting it until then.
I will be considering some new, intermediate tier (like $3-5 a month) if I can come up with a suitable reward for it. But that's in the future. All in all I think this will be a nice way to make billing easier to understand for everyone and patrons will get the same amount of content with less confusion. Please let me know what you think.
