Valhalla Combat 0.9.4 Beta Test

Requirements: SSE. Newest version of TrueHud, Newest version of Elden Counter(toggle the damage patch), Movesets that are not Eskyrim's(Eskyrim's movesets lack certain annotation to trigger stamina cost, they can be fixed but it will require some Hkanno usage).

The current build is relatively playable but far from perfect, so don't spread it around, and please please let me know if you encounter anything weird or have any suggestions.


Incompatibilities: please uninstall all you other combat mods(not behavior mods, combat mods like Blade&blunt, Wildcat, Sekiro). They're not directly incompatible but will result in minor to serious inconsistencies in your combat experience.

well it doesnt regocnize the elden counter patches, theres no nemesis option for valhalla combat in the nemesis engeine

Is there any way i could turn off the killmoves entirely? It locked me in a semi-perma state of doing the repeated kill cam over and over after blocking and normal attacking. Turning off the stun/execution doesn't work but i deleted the entire "kill list" from zedit and it kinda work. Am i missing something i shouldn't done? EDIT: Read above comments, I'm using imperious so that's maybe why it might be causing some incompatibilities issues. Correct me if I'm wrong.

hello, Is it possible to make the kill move gauge recoverable in battle? As of now, recovery is impossible unless the battle is over.

the first time no, the second time it did when i came to the same bandit camp, I did manage to clear the area without a crash the 3rd time. the other crash while mounted was in a different area entirely though, ive crashed two additional times since then though both while mounted as soon as i make contact so im pretty sure its a conflict with horsemen, ill try without horsemen just to confirm its a conflict between the two. I wouldnt worry about it too much as its a mod porter over from LE so majority of people wont have this issue unless it extends to other mods that add a mounted combat feature

That being said, if you prefer DS system still, simply disable the whole stamina module through MCM and use Fenix’s mod. There shouldn’t be any incompatibilities

Allowing weapon swing is a design choice. Instead of being incapable of swinging at all, the people who have depleted stamina enter a “exhaustion” state that’s also signified by your greyed out stamina meter. In this state all your attack deals half as much damage and in the future, you’re 3x less resilient to incoming balance damage. Personally I’m not a fan of limiting all attacks, as it’s impossible to fix it with Skyrim’s level design/enemy placement. So instead i put a soft limit that’s enough to discourage the player from depleting stamina that does not turn Skyrim into a stamina management game.

Hello DTry, I included this mod to my load order yesterday, and so far I like it. Except, I noticed that at a stamina depleted state, the player and npc can still swing their weapon. I'm not sure if this mod allows this behavior, or I'm experiencing an incompatibility in my load order. I am also using a mod from fenix31415 that manages stamina for all players, and the mod prevents any player from swinging their weapon if their stamina is depleted. The player or npc will either consume a potion or rendered unable to swing their weapon until they regenerate enough stamina. I'm trying to figure out how I can include the features of your mod with the aforementioned behavioral restrictions.

Very much intended. This is because with precision a swing lasts longer than the hitframe. So consuming stamina(which depends on whether this swing hits the enemy or not) when the swing doesn’t end is a bit inaccurate. You’re always allowed to do swings without stamina; i never wanted to physically limit player action; instead your limit comes from a debuff when your stamina depletes, you can know about it’s detail on h to e GitHub description page.

Hi @DTry! I am really a fan of your work and how you are trying to balance everything out! I only have an issue with a delay in stamina consumption with the mod: it seems almost like a lag and is quite noticeable, so much that I can actually attack more than my stamina would allow, is is it inteded?

It will be compatible since it's highly modular; however I won't suggest using this with requiem, as requiem emphasizes too much on role-play immersion that basically ruins combat fluidity, in my subjective opinion.

There is no nemesis patch with 0.9.4c, was there supposed to be? I can get the mod to recognize True Hud API and poise being installed, but it does not recognize elden counter nemesis patch of special bar (although maybe that is because poise already takes it)

Yeah Valhalla combat only works with SSE so far. I won’t be building an AE version until before publishing the mod, since everything is subject to change.

Which version of TrueHud are you using?

With 0.9.4c, the Nemesis patch for Valhalla doesn't show up where it did for 0.9.4. Otherwise, same result as 0.9.4.

On 0.9.4, the API isn't detected. The Special Meter is not granted. The Elden Counter Stun Damage Patch isn't installed either in spite of both options being ticked on Nemesis. It doesn't work if I untick either of the patches.

Cheers. Also, a further two points: I've tried both versions out, and with 0.9.4, I've noticed that it doesn't mesh well with TrueHUD. I'm not able to access the special bar for poise. I tried 0.9.4c, and neither TrueHUD nor Poise seem to be registering at all.

BTW, I have noticed that valhalla combat appeared in nemesis only with the previous version. It doesn't with the 0.9.4c

I've tested with 1 enemy so far. It occurred when I'm trying to execute the enemy, no matter which type of attack I'm using

Hi there! I have a CTD with the 0.9.4c version when the enemy has low hp. i got this message from .Net crash report : Unhandled native exception occurred at 0x7FFCFECD8B8A (valhallaCombat.dll+48B8A) on thread 28192!

It’s incompatible with older versions of TrueHud. Future updates won’t require a new game because this mod does not leave anything in your save.

1.no. I set projectiles to be slow so I can dodge them and feel like allowing player to parry would make melee OP. You can install strike obstruction systems if you’re looking for a projectile parry mod

Think you could add an option that instead of a execution the attack would only do extra damage like in Dark Souls? But i dont know if it would work with vanilla killmoves bcuz of the decapitations.

Saw this mod featured on a bunch of youtube videos and thought it was cool. Just wondering about two things. 1. Does this mod let you block spells and arrows like Inpa Sekiro? That's one of my favorite features from that mod. 2. Is Loki's poise mod compatible with this one? Edit: Never mind for the second question. Just looked at the MCM and found the poise patch.

yep. Custom races need a compatibility ini that’s incredibly easy to do. I’ll write a small tutorial on that.

So little problem I have, the stun animation and following killmove are not consistent at all. Seems like other mods are overwriting the downed state. My guess would be project impact or distance based combat. Could it be that ? EDIT : Seems the problem comes from me using a custom race

Hmmm yeah, it shouldn’t interfere with violens. The killmove you make is the vanilla killmove if the stun bar ks empty. You can use violens to disable all vanilla killmoves if you don’t want to see them.
