I always wanted to role-play as a spellsword, but the flow simply doesn't feel right. The recent publication of Inquisitor armor(https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/73980) made me want to do it again.
So here it is: Val-ence is my attempt to not fix, but to enhance Skyrim's magic combat flow to be more fast-paced and skill-based. For now, valence will center around its one and only core mechanic: ward blocking.
All magic wards now have 0 cost. It's done by overwriting game data once they're all loaded i.e. mods that add new spells will be compatible out-of-box.
You can indefinitely hold up a magic ward, but it still breaks once ward health reaches 0. Holding up a ward now constantly regenerates your magicka, at the cost of stamina drain. Successfully blocking incoming attacks(arrows/spells/melee attacks) also regenerates magicka.
The above changes encourage offense-defense role switching rather than kiting the enemy(what vanilla magicians do when they're out of magicka). I'm still planning other changes such as timed ward block, so feel free to suggest! More details will come soon.
