The Marvel Symphonic Universe

With all my recent posts about the development of film music and movies in general over the last couple of decades, this video is worth watching if you haven't seen it yet.

While many of the things covered in the video are completely agreeable, I find the opening premise of "Can you sing a tune from franchise x?" as a quality standard for film music problematic. I already mentioned in another article that hummable themes should not always be the prime goal

Also, the video avoids counter-checking the "accusations" it makes on the Marvel movies with the other franchises. They all are full of similar approaches where the music just doubles what's already on screen as well as the obvious temp reference of classical pieces even in the first Star Wars movies. This bias is unfortunate. A more balanced view would have been appropriate as many of the issues raised are by far not a problem exclusive to the Marvel universe but I can understand that for the sake of making a snappy video, it is not possible to view these things from all angles.

It is still worth watching and some of the temptrack comparisons are just mindboggling.

There is a reaction video on this as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bxr2rGvVwUE
