Astri Nascenti.
Added 2022-07-30 00:55:10 +0000 UTCSo... what's Astri Nascenti.
Astri Nascenti is the name I use to generally refer to a bunch of stories that take place all in the same universe.
As I started mastering a DnD 5e Campaign set in this universe and writing more and more stories, I decided that I wanted to share all of these things in a single cohesive narrative.
So, the Visual Novel idea came to be. A mix of 2D and 3D that mixes a charming visual style with a gripping narrative. "Paper Mario mixed with Disco Elyisium?"
I don't know, something along those lines.
For now, I've been working on and off on the project as a Creative Director, Narrative Designer and 3D Artist. For the first time in my life, i've tried Unity and even though i have very strong opinions on the software, i still think it's the best engine for what we strive for.
I can only thank my friend Joeri (Spritework) enough for embarking on this journey for me.
For now, we're developing a cohesive visual style while working on the basic features of a Visual Novel. All of us are pretty novice to this kind of stuff so it will take a while.
But the story's there! And I can't wait to get it out there.
For now, we aim to release a demo that covers the events from a Oneshot i mastered a year ago, with some definitely expanded stuff (so you'll want to see more and more lol!!!).
At that point, we'll probably consider making a kickstarter for the real thing.
A whole 3 act Story divided in 3 different releases with 4 arcs each.
It's a slow process and it'll take a lot of time. But I don't care. I truly believe in what we've have.
For clarity purpose, Astri Nascenti is the name of this whole Universe, so i'll refer to the visual novel as "Astri Nascenti VN" up until we find a name.
Which will probably be something like "Astri Nascenti:PipiUndKaka".
Something a bit more serious but yeah, something like that.
I'll also work on other stories and medias regarding this Universe, those stories will probably feature the "Astri Nascenti:" at the beginning too.
So, look out for that.
This transmedia idea stemmed from a thesis project of mine (which went kind of nowhere, thanks for nothing uni colleagues!), in which i started to lay the foundation and rules of a Narrative Universe.
"First" things first, I've never liked plain old Fantasy.
Dragons, Dungeons, Little magic fairies just ain't my things.
So... I've started a DnD campaign based on an expanded version of what i've laid down for my Thesis.
I know i've JUST SAID that i don't like Fantasy, but exactly because of that, i wanted to write my own stuff in this genre, mixed with a big dose of mistery and psychological character exploration.
Soooo... That's it!
Wait, no, i have still to pitch my fucking narrative.
"The Lands of Nuria were famished. Destroyed by years of political conflict and poverty. But, with the arrival of the Wise Races of Elves, something changed. They teached the Southern Reigns of Nuria new ways of engineering, new magic and united them against a single evil, the people of Insi. Rageful, Warbringing barbaric humans of the desert, or so, the elves described them. So, the Greatest War started. All of the Reigns of Nuria were united. All but one. But the Elves don't accept anything short of perfection. Even though the war already started, they wanted to form an alliance with the Stubborn Dwarves of the North. A group of mercenaries gets recruited for the task... but they seem set up to fail."
Aaand that would be my FANTASY pitch.
Here's MY kind of pitch.
"In a day like any others, a man got contacted by...something. "It"
starts talking inside his head. Tales of "future", "present", "past" and what seemed like fiction intertwined. "It" promised fortune, luck and more. But he'd had to write whatever "It" said. And so he did. He started realizing too much. And he didn't like what he realized. So he started his own plan: he tore up pages of the book and gave them to different people. He had his own plans for the future. This coveted Tome will be the doom and the savior of so many people."
WHO KNOWS.
See ya in the future!
