AI has been used lot in science. It helps sift through data, make models, navigate research faster. But it requires expert oversight and doesn't replace scientists. It only enhances their work. Regular people using AI makes everything about AI worse because regular people don't have the expertise to oversee AI and steer it away from error. A lot of people just blindly trust whatever output it produces. As to whether AI will be able to read and interpret laws correctly, I don't think that's ever coming. It could be useful for an experienced lawyer to speed up their work. But in the hands of a regular user not trained in law it would never replace the need for an attorney. I don't think AI can reasonably replace these expert workers. Junior programmers are probably the only exception.

The Hated One

When all the positives of AI were being discussed a few years ago they talked about it being used in highly specific situations like to read X-rays or to read every law ever and be available to answer questions. Why hasn't there been any real focus on specific uses and monetizing that? Are LLMs just not capable of that?

Nice.
