Apple feels entitled to a whole 30% cut of Patreon creators' earnings through Patreon app on the iPhone. This is in line with Apple's App Store policy that charges app developers a third of all in-app purchases and transactions. So in November 2024, all users of the iOS app will have their support slashed by 30%. If you are on the iOS Patreon app, USE PATREON.COM WEBSITE TO CONTINUE YOUR SUPPORT INSTEAD OF THE iOS APP.
Why should Apple be entitled to 30% of my Patron donations? What has Apple ever done for small content creators? It makes zero sense to require that small creators pay an arbitrary 30% tax to a company that 's worth trillions of dollars. Apple is doing nothing for content creators. Apple is not hosting my content, they are not delivering my content, they are NOT my platform.
Apple has been found to be stealing content of online creators (including my YouTube channel) to train their AI models. Apple deserves NOTHING. If you are an Apple user, it is up to you to boycott Apple's unjustifiable tax. What Apple is doing is extortion and exploitation and should not be tolerated.
All creators and developers should pass on the Apple tax onto the customer. If customers are okay with supporting a predatory, exploitative, monopolistic company like Apple, it's their decision. If you are not okay with arbitrary 30% price hikes, LEAVE APPLE.
Charging creators 30% for doing nothing for them is beyond cruel,
