Episode 241 - Paradox of knowledge and how not to be overwhelmed with (privacy) research

The more you learn about something, the more you realize how much you don't know. This can be paralyzing, but it doesn't have to be.

It's just like you said: it feels like stock android - but it's better because of the added security and the grapheneOS features are sublime, especially the turn off Mic/Camera features from the quick access menu, although I would prefer a physical switch. I looked through my stock OS just to see what it was like, and it was so cluttered with useless applications that I felt an immense satisfaction after seeing barely 10 preinstalled application on Graphene. I also get the benefit of having a little bit more storage space because of that. I also had to get the Pixel from abroad due to how limited it is, but it is worth it for the added privacy. I can't wait for the pixels with removable batteries that will come with the 2027 mandate of the EU

So how are you liking your GrapheneOS experience now that it's installed?

The Hated One

I follow every step of the GrapheneOS installation process (The website installer) and I think I was doing something wrong when restarting the phone. I forgot at this point, but I thought I might brick my device. I tried several times and it worked at last and now I have GrapheneOS.

Such great content here. Hearing from someone else that understands the risks AND solutions available is so prescient. The 80/20 rule is a good way to get people over the initial mental hurdles in order to prepare themselves for the future. It is coming...well, it (surveillance state) is here as of 2010 (the year that the break-even point for cost to energy expended ratio became equal) except that gov and corp interests stand in the way of widespread awareness of risks and adoption of solutions. Each season finale of X-Files has the verbiage during the opening credits "FIGHT THE FUTURE". That's what it is about when you understand the risks. For now, data collective is mostly passive, it is collected for future analysis and use. Soon, at some unknown point in the future it will be active collection even beyond what it already is, such as in courts to determine recidivism rate for a defendant and how harsh to punish you, how police react per the patrol route they are in, etc. Frog in the pot...most people will not notice until it is TOO LATE.

I think that installing any custom rom for the first time is a bit scary and I don't think that many people know how easy is to install graphene os. tbh when I was installing it, I was familiar with custom roms, so for me it everything was fairly easy. also I didn't think of putting my sim into a seperate device, I might try that one.
