That's really awesome to hear, Sten. I have so much content I wanna make and when I see people find it useful it makes me even more pumped to keep making more!

The Hated One

I am super glad you find this content valuable. I am slowly building up my confidence and skill with podcasting, which I'd like to do more often alongside my youtube vids. I wish I had time to make even more content and share my research more often.

The Hated One

Yes, his patreon is packed with content. I wanted to watch more of him and i was NOT DISAPPOINTED here.

Sentinel Sten

Just joined the patreon and am already pleased with the information I'm getting here over YT. Just wanted to thank you for all the hard work you put in to all of your content and giving reliable information to help guide my decisions when it comes to matters of privacy and opsec.

chrundle

Looking forward to it!

I am not telling you to do this, but I explicitly refuse to communicate in any meaningful capacity with others over insecure and privacy invasive apps. I tell me people they can only reach out to me on Signal or not at all. For the most part at least. And I don't have ant social media they could fall back to either.

The Hated One

I am making video on the most private messenger where I talk in detail about this. Will probably come out in early January. The issues is cross platform communication but also cloud backups, which are not end to end encrypted by default on Apple.

The Hated One

Didn't catch the caveat you alluded to with regards to iMessage or Google RCS. Is it the fact it's not cross platform compatible? Still leaks info? All of the above?

Hasty Pastry

Speaking from experience I had a group on a different platform, tried to move them, Signal didn't work, now I'm stuck with tgram. But even then they're using the other platform

Hasty Pastry

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9Ux8DFgMSM tldr is delay your responses to an annoying level in other platforms, reward them for answering on privacy conscious platforms, e.g. "hey I bought soccer game tickets for X, wanna join?" and if they miss that's their problem (they'll probably won't afterwards)

Hasty Pastry

I tried to hook a few friends on Signal but they constantly forget about it and just message me on Instagram instead. The last time that I had friends on signal - they just thought that Signal is useless and got rid of it. And instead of them using a secure and encrypted platform, it was me who had to switch to using their mainstream chat applications. Such is the life in privacy. Rarely anyone cares to give it a try.

Sentinel Sten

Look at the spam blob in the server code. It went closed a long time ago. I guess you could call it mostly open source.

Shirley Cirrius

Signal is open source: https://github.com/signalapp https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Signal_(software)

The Hated One

Of course they do. It is centralized, closed source, and all men on the foundation are of the same ethnic tribe who run Silicon Valley and the national security state.
