Yes, Molly already does encrypt the database so having that on a PC would be wonderful. Really shameful that Signal ignores this gaping hole.

Should be sued into oblivion for this. Fuck him.

Meta is blocking links to new supposedly open source platform competitor Pixelfed. Zuck sees the writing on the wall and is trying to maintain user base by saying we will be privacy-first so no need to leave.

Right! I remember this from the episode you made about Signal on desktop and how it isn't really secure to use on a PC exactly for that reason. If Molly extends their work to desktop, that wold be wonderful, but it would take time.

Yes, leaving encryption at rest out is a very stupid design decision on the part of Signal. Their idea is that you should only use Signal on your phone, which is encrypted and isolated, so other apps won't get into your data, encryption at rest is not needed. But it is needed on virtually every other device. And it is also needed on mobile devices that are out of date. Which is a lot of them. Signal assumes your device is secure, and I understand they can't be responsible for the end user security, but this is something that's entirely within their control and easy to accomplish. So yeah, what Molly is doing is very important here in my opinion.

The Hated One

Quite on point with that one. How am I expected to believe that the most invasive social media conglomerate has my best interest in mind, that is just absurd! I tried to get some clues out of his body language, but it was really well rehearsed and he was his usual (alien) self. Also, lizard people are suspicious. I'd like to ask you Have you heard of "Molly" the fork of signal, which claims to be a hardened version of Signal for android? It reintroduces a feature, that was previously on Signal, which encrypts the data at rest on the device; meaning that you can't access it without a passphrase. I believe It is different from the PIN that is being prompted when opening the app. What do you think about it if you have heard of it?
