I have been close to throwing in the towel on efforts towards preserving what little privacy and security I do have, but you always remind me why it matters.

Drama aside, I actually moved out of proton mail two years back to self hosted for my family. 99% of our emails were incoming, and in the other 1%, most of our mails weren't actually to proton accounts but to gmail/outlook, so end to end encryption rarely applied to emails (assumption is that anything sent to these accounts is already compromised). Between us, we use a self hosted matrix instance for day to day communication, so email doesn't matter.

Sadly as a species that tends toward organizing as a means to capture power/influence to maximize likelihood of more expedient access to finite resources to ultimately achieve self-actualization and comfort, the behaviors that have been, will always be.
