The king tires of all the cacophony and Politics and violence of power. So he divides his kingdom amongst his daughters. He wants to enjoy the rest of his life with his friends after passing the torch of responsibility.
Unfortunately he was blind to appreciate the one daughter who truly loved him, And would honor his wish to be free to enjoy life. He's deceived by his other daughters Who completely disavow all he did for them. He's tossed to the street like a common homeless person. And Although he seems insane to most, he gains a connection with nature hes never had before. And He at last understands the simple yet perfect Love his banished daughter Cordelia has for him
Alas she is killed in the violence his wish for a better life caused.
With her dead body in his arms, He's a skeleton of a man. And wonders why nature could choose to support life of all sorts, but not the life of the one and only person who truly loved him.

It's hard to express just how much I connect with this play during this phase of my life. Luckily for me eventhough my Cordelia is few and far between
