June 2021 Update

Introduction

Hello everyone, I know it's been awhile without any updates, but rest assured that's not out of a lack of productivity. On the contrary, this has been one of the most productive years so far. As I've hinted before in the past, I've been working hard on a secret 18+ Unity game project (with StudioWhy) which will be the accumulation of everything I've learned so far. My skills in drawing, animation, programming, music, game design, and more that I've learned over the years will truly be put to use with this big project. 

While my previous projects were experiments and prototypes to test out ideas, we are quite serious about this new game. We're working daily to get the game ready for alpha testers as soon as possible. So in the meantime, I can give a little background about it.

Background

I first started working on a flash game in 2019 as an "adult roguelike" prototype. The scope was to be very small and focus on having really good adult content, so I could actually complete it and not run into all sorts of unexpected game development issues. Cloptopia, for instance, was simply too big for me to handle, especially as a flash game.

However, with the realization that Flash would be dying soon, I was worried I'd be left with yet another unfinished flash game that I've poured hundreds of hours of work into. Despite this, I kept working on it anyways, because it was enjoyable to do so. At the time, I was feeling pretty lost. Eventually, I showed the project to Scion (StudioWhy) and after some discussion we decided to make it a proper Unity Game project. Since then, we've been designing, planning, programming, drawing, and animating stuff to make this game happen - alongside other projects like PonyWaifuSim and Fluttermare.

Other Questions

What about other MLP Projects like Ponyvania? I am working on these on the side. I think this roguelike project is the more important thing to get out first. 

Can you tell us a little more about this new adult roguelike game? It will be an attempt at striking a unique balance between real gameplay and good adult content. With most adult games, you get one of two things: adult content unlocked by a tedious mini-game, or actual gameplay but the adult content is really basic. Outside of that you've got interactive stories like visual novels and text-based adventures.

Anything else going on? I've been doing some music stuff, as you might have heard, including helping vanripper with the Helltaker anniversary DLC. My YouTube channel has gotten quite big, now over 80,000 subscribers, which is pretty exciting. It's really fun to have so many people listening to my music and leaving comments. I also plan to do a little more artwork, but otherwise, just working on these Unity projects most of the time.

Why don't you update Patreon more often? I do apologize. Not only is it unfair to my supporters, it's also financially unwise because it leads to a lot of people unsubscribing. At the end of the day, it's because I'm choosing to put more effort into working on projects than talking about them in updates. Once my new game comes out, I plan to consistently release new patches and gather feedback, so the updates will be much more frequent.
