Paralives’ 2024 Recap: The Year in Numbers

It’s our 275th Patreon post (wow, we made so many!?) and the last one of the year so I’ll take this opportunity to summarize everything we’ve done and what’s to come in 2025! Please note that we will take a short break from publishing Patreon posts for the Holidays and we will be back on January 10th with our regular weekly posting schedule ⛄❄️
👍 4 Major Events for Paralives in 2024
1️⃣ February 7, 2024: Live mode gameplay reveal video, no DLC announcement and 2025 release year announcement.
2️⃣ July 5-7, 2024: Paralives at Montreal Comiccon. We met a lot of fellow life simulation game fans there and we collected precious feedback on the build mode.
3️⃣ October 1, 2024: The build mode is feature-complete for launch and the programmers are now working full time on the live mode.
4️⃣ Throughout the year: 8 playtest sessions with 50+ people in total. This allowed us to improve the usability of the build mode and get a first round of feedback for the gameplay of the live mode.

🕺136 New Animations
In 2024, the size of Paralives’ animation team doubled when we recruited Lina to work with Alice. Together, they created a ton of new animations to make your future Paras come to life! Kissing, marriage proposals, exercising, cleaning, repairing, dancing, interactions with babies, with toddlers, and more!

📦 50+ Features Added to the Game
New build mode tools: Fences, roofs, stairs, moldings, terrain painting and more
Color swatches: We created thousands and thousands of premade color swatches for the various clothing items, furniture and objects you’ll find in the game
Reworking of live mode gameplay systems: Needs, wants, emotions, careers and other live mode systems have been reworked (and it’s still ongoing!)
Live Mode Content: We added more jobs, personality traits, emotions and wants
Audio: Footstep, terrain tools and build mode interface sound effects
Music: 5 new music tracks for the build mode and Paramaker

👕 156 New Paramaker Items
The talented artists from the Paralives’ team created so much new content this year! As we did for the recap of 2023, here are the new items that have been created and added to the game in 2024, starting with the clothing items and hairstyles for the Paramaker made by Sonia and Léa.
Not pictured here: new makeup, new accessories such as necklaces and rings, new body hair, and more. With all this content, plus the one we made before in 2023, we can’t wait to see the Parafolks you will be creating! We will keep creating more and more clothing items and hairstyles before and after the release so don’t worry if something is still missing.
🏠 637 New Build Mode Items
Regarding the build mode, Léa and Chloé didn’t sit on their laurels either. Below are all the objects they have created this year.
This doesn’t even include fences, moldings, wall and floor textures that were made as well!

📅 9 Major Goals for 2025
⚙️ Finish the core features of the live mode
🎮 Have testing sessions with friends and improve the live mode gameplay according to the feedback
📝 Add a lot more content to the live mode
🌆 Build the town and the townies that you will be able to play with at launch
➕ Add more sound effects, character animations, build mode items and Paramaker items to the game
🔨 Fix bugs, improve the UI and the user experience and optimize the game to make sure it runs smoothly
🎯 Announce a more specific release date, when we’re ready
🙍 Prepare and deliver rewards for some Patreon tiers like naming a furniture/object of the build mode and having a character made in your image
⭐ Release Paralives in Early Access on Steam!

Firstly, I am so looking forward to all that will be coming this year because I know you all are going to rock it, and I can't wait! I have a suggestion/request that I think needs to be part of the game (a profession/career), as it has never been done in any game out there that I know of. I was a dedicated CNA (certified nursing assistant) most of my life, but have been disabled for many years now after moving to Norway from the eastern US. So I am asking if it could be possible to include this in game, I myself did it all, worked in hospitals, Nursinghomes as well as home health assistance/private duty. Nursinghomes would be a major addition to gameplay for sure, but having home health to the elderly community as well as helping disabled Para's of all ages, would be the ultimate addition to the game. I am not sure why I never brought this up until now, but I guess that is due to so many of us banging our heads up against a brick wall when it comes to requests/suggestions for a game we won't mention. So @Alex, do you think this would be doable so that we don't get all the same careers/professions that we have all been dealt year after year with said game not worth mentioning? I want this myself more than anything, as I believe this would be an ultimate tribute to the backbone of the nursing industry as a whole! And yes, CNA's are the backbone 100% and never get the recognition they so much deserve! My oldest is still a CNA even though he has had many chances to go onto be an RN. He says why should he be a pill or pencil pusher when he gets so much more satisfaction actually working with patients and residents than passing out meds or doing paperwork! Please? hugs to you all for all you do to bring joy to all of us! <3

2024-12-24 16:04:40 +0000 UTCSo excited for this game, I am so tired of just having one true life simulation game to play, since they are my favorites, but the only choice being created by a company that doesn't respect their customers and thinks it's fine to put out buggy packs and forces special events that have broke our games, but then won't fix it when we ask them to. AND who is really all about money. To the point that I now hate the game franchise that used to be my favorite. I want to have a life simulation game I can be proud to say I play again, and I do believe Paralives will be that game for me. Oh and I'm not even remotely interested in that other life sim game, the fancy one, that looks good, but it's gameplay is horrible and who isn't LGBTQ+ friendly. It is a perfect example of " looks can be deceiving " so the only life simulation game I'm looking forward to next year is Paralives. Also Happy Holidays to the whole team and everyone reading this, and here's hoping for a happy and peaceful New Year as well for all.
