Hello everyone! Léa here today with a very special post: my last one! 😁We are closer and closer to release day, and I won’t be writing any more until then. I wanted to make this one a little different and decided to show you a speed build of the interior of the clothing store in the Old Town: L’Armoire.
I already introduced the building in this post, but the interior was left blank while we focused on other tasks.
This post is for Patrons only, so please don’t share it. Thank you! ✨
I had a lot of fun creating this space! All the other stores in the plaza have items for purchase or gifts available every day. This store needed its own system to encourage visitors to explore the city's many public spaces. As you can see at the end of the video, you will be able to purchase outfits directly from the mannequins.
I will now let Alejandro tell you a little bit more about the system he created:
‘’Hi! Alejandro here, since I worked on the outfit system, it made sense that I was the one to make an item that could display said outfits. The mannequin item will be available in the item catalog to use in any build. You will be able to dress it with your current outfit by interacting with it.
The mannequin item is still a placeholder and not the final visual.
And as mentioned before, players will be able to buy outfits from the store! These outfits will be added to your available outfits to put on.
Mannequins in the store will all have different outfits to purchase

I hope even if it's not changed, that we can turn it off or something, I mean it really shouldn't be showing up inside the house anyway, it's not needed. Also welcome Carina to the team. 2025-10-18 10:23:09 +0000 UTCIt would be fun if the personality of the Para could play a part in their reaction when you buy/try on (if there will be such a possibility before buying) a new outfit. Like maybe a "sporty" Para will react with a bit less confidence trying a very formal outfit like in the second gif. And vice versa a "classy" Para with a sporty/casual outfit. I'm not saying they should "dislike" the outfits because, after all, they dress like the player wants them to and should not be "difficult", ha ha :-D But maybe they could be shown to have slightly different reactions, pondering the purchase a bit in some cases, or in other cases be instantly very satisfied like in the gifs if the outfit matches their personality perfectly. I don't know if it's a silly suggestion or a way to over-complicate things! :-D

This appears to be an item because there's the thumbnail on the left along with all the other objects, but I was wondering, is this, at least for now, available only for you devs as a town creation tool? Or is it something that I can use to decorate my house (changing the text to something other, or changing the font/color)? Also I really hope that you keep for us players (or add at some point after early access) the ability to type text to filter the items.

I'll make a suggestion as some others did here, regarding the manequin, I think it would be nice to be able to buy the clothes without wearing it, and also to have the possibility to try it on our para before the purchase. This town is clearly modeled to look like an older village of sorts. Retrofitting those buildings would be a complicated task in real life so I think the design reflects that. That would be a really interesting suggestion to have maybe some of the buildings retrofitted to add accessibility options, whereas some have not been. It would give the world a more lived in feel. Regarding elevators, I doubt those are in the game at this point. I don't think I have seen them do anything with apartment living as of yet, which would be the time to develop that part of the game further. But ramps seem like they could definately add while keeping the small village aesthetic.

I have been paying for the teir that says that we can have our own townie. Can anyone please help me out with that? Im still going through the health stuff but do want a townie in your game. Maybe this is an early draft if the item and not finished but I thought I'd mention it. As for the build, I love it! It's so cute and elegant I makes me want to shop there as gameplay even if clothes can be altered freely from a dresser (how does that work in Paralives? Do you have to buy more clothes or is it optional gameplay?)

I haven't been able to enjoy playing the Sims since, I was just in there, and it felt alien and different. I'm aching for a place that allows creativity and diversity, I am hoping that Paralives fulfills that for me and other refugees fleeing EA. i really wish it was December now so I could play the beta. 2025-10-17 17:17:16 +0000 UTCThe store looks really good, very classy. But I notice a trend in the store designs in that they're all designed for able-bodied adults. This clothing store doesn't seem to have anything for children and younger. It'd be nice to have a children's clothing store in town as well, maybe in a different neighborhood near some other child-oriented activities or businesses. The stores in this square also skew narrow with multiple floors. I know accessibility gameplay is still in the works, but it's still too bad we don't see space left in the design for the eventual addition of ramps or elevators. Accessibility is an afterthought in this neighborhood, which is understandable since the buildings look older but is unfortunately a case of truth in fiction. 😅

And at the same time I felt so sad because your goodbye reminded me that we will just get weekly messages for two more months 😢 May I suggest something: I'd love to see a change in decoration (flowers) and available clothes when we will get seasons. It would be fun to be able to scroll though and try on available outfits in the fitting rooms, select something like “Add To Bag” or “Purchase Outfit” on what you like, and either have that or checking out at the register be how you buy the outfits.

It's great that someone will stream Paralives for us, as this is a very common request I see in the wild when the game comes up. Being on a different continent, I'm happy that the stream will be recorded, too ! I'd have loved for a different platform than Discord (PeerTube for instance), but I understand that it's a Patreon-only thing at the moment. "a very special post: my last one! 😁We are closer and closer to release day, and I won’t be writing any more until then" And since we won't have the pleasure of reading you on Patreon again, I'm taking this opportunity to ask that you, and all the Paradevs, take extra care of yourselves in the weeks to come. Hopefully there is no brutal crunch on the road to Early Access release 💜 Now to the post itself. We've seen quite a bit of building footage in the past, but nothing drives the point more than seeing how fluid everything has become than today's video ! It's great to see how fast things can be accomplished (yes, even accounting for a sped up video), how a table can be used as a podium, how basements can work seamlessly with the rest, even. I'm super thankful that we'll be able to actually buy clothes. It's so much more immersive than to have access to everything and anything for free ! It gives meaning to worrying about salary and bills. Sometimes you just can't afford a new dress... Speaking of, I imagine the outfits are pulled from the pool of premade outfits that NPCs will also use ? Is there any kind of ability for the mannequin to be recolored (so that L'Armoire isn't suspected of racism) and/or resized (I'd love a plus-sized store in a life simulation game !) ? Toddlers or kids seem out of question, but at least allowing more than one type of adult clothing to be displayed would honor Paralives' quest for inclusivity. Might be a tall order so close to release, but it never hurts to ask. How are prices determined, by the way ? Is it 50¶ regardless of whether it's a fancy suit or a farming outfit ?

Also, I agree that functional fitting rooms would be amazing for the future! I also want to know if Paras are able to set any outfit at anytime from the entire Paramaker catalogue or if you have to have items/outfits to be able to access them in game (the latter is my preferred method for the realism but I know others would like the freedom of the first option more)

Or are all the clothes available but afterwards you have to buy it? will the mannequins fill generate the clothes on them randomly the next day for new selections? I really do like this part a lot and i'm very excited for December 8th.

I have no idea if this is at all feasible but I think it could be really cool if this system could be linked to players sharing outfits they've created. Player-created outfits that have been saved to a "library" could be added to L'Armoire's list of outfits, available for all players. I'm not sure if that makes sense! I also think it would be cool if there was an option to try on outfits (perhaps linked to fitting rooms?!). It would also be nice to have an option to purchase an outfit without automatically switching into that outfit.

This could bring a depth to this store system aside the part of being pre made styles.

But until a dev comes by with a better reply for you, have my guess: I think there's not really a difference right now, but it's more for having stuff to do in the town and to enable role playing. Personally, I hope this is a first step towards making clothes fully available at para creation time, but thereafter locked and you have to go buy it in the stores to unlock it.

I really love how the inside turned out and I can't wait to go visit it in the game! I know I've been saying this since the Chalet video but the build tools just look incredible!! You make it look easy to make really natural and alive-feeling spaces! And not only that you, with your considerable skill can do it; you make me feel like _I_ can do it too!! A very simple "preview" window would be enough for me edit: actually it would be great if we could preview the outfit, as said above by Zahlea, and then if you buy it you don't immediately change into it. I usually don't get out of shops wearing the clothes I bought immediately! :-D But that is fine in the end, if it stays like this (you change into the new outfit immediately) it's not a big "problem" :-) edit2: maybe the preview window could have 3 "options": buy it/buy it and put it on immediately/don't buy it

It could just be a window like the para view in the paramaker, where I can rotate and look at my para in a bigger view from multiple angles.
