I think I wasn't clear with this at any moment, but I think of their relations like there weren't much kisses too, especially from Alastor (not because he doesn't want it but because he is too stubborn to admit and realize it, haha), so Lucifer goes step by step with him like with a wild animal! Because whaat? Kissing someone?? Are you joking? It means showing vulnerability! Nonsence.
So both of them are surprised, Lucifer positively and Alastor instantly feeling anxcious and defensive again. Not that it's something that Lucifer isn't already used to.
