Before we begin today’s post I’d like to apologize for not posting last sunday, as I was on vacation and simply forgot. Today I will make the post longer for compensation! With that being said, let’s begin!

Great update on the unscrewed bolts bug

Some of you who play vanilla with WreckMP might have stumbled upon an issue where the game would behave very weirdly. The symptoms vary between machines, sometimes the day text would be missing, sometimes the shopping bag would spawn nothing, but all satsuma bolts being unscrewed on reload happens everytime.

Always when I told the person having this bug to get MSCLoader so I can inspect what’s wrong, the issue would magically fix itself. I took that as a fix for a long time, as I had no idea what could cause this, and I had no idea where to even start inspecting.

But yesterday when the same bug came in, I noticed a strange error spam in the logs that explained everything! The bug raised from the user incorrectly uninstalling MSCLoader in the past. The game somehow loaded the remaining files the user forgot to delete and completely broke. The safest solution is to just reinstall game, ensuring all leftover files are gone.

There comes a lesson, always use the uninstaller!

Meet Gregory

If you have opened a WreckMP support ticket on our discord in the past week, you were most likely greeted with Gregory. He’s our new AI assistant, helping to take over the reports.

Gregory knows a set of common issues, and is trained to get detailed information about your problem and help you solve it (if it’s in his book of common issues) or elevate to human support once enough information is gathered.

This saves up both my time and your time. If your issue is just a simple common mistake, you get it fixed rightaway. If not, much doesn’t differ, other that Gregory has already gathered information for me when I take a look at the report.

The assistant is still a beta version and we’re tweaking it continuously.

Launcher auto-update and installer

WreckMP launcher is now easier to use than ever before! No more annoying install process, unpacking files in correct directory etc. now on, WreckMP is installed through a professional setup.exe. There you pick the game directory, desktop shortcut option and you’re done! It automatically installs .NET required for launcher to run, so no more missing .NET errors either!

And one more thing, with this setup update, launcher has also received an auto updater! No need to redownload and reinstall the setup every little patch. Now on, whenever launcher gets updated, it automatically downloads the latest version during startup before you can even blink.

This step has vastly improved the user experience.
