Tales of Springfield 35

Au contraire. At the end of the "Fellowship of the Ring" movie, Frodo says goodbye to Aragorn and basically wanders around announcing that he is leaving. Watch it again. In the book, after his confrontation with Boromir, Frodo splits without talking to anyone, and they are standing around wondering where he went.

Honestly, Tolkien really did not have a great hand at storytelling, though unparalleled in creating a cohesive universe. He knew how to write'em, but not how to convey'em. Besides, Frodo didn't tell anybody he was leaving in the movie either. So I really don't see Springfield's point. Unless they're talking about Frodo's last journey to Valinor. Other than that, the movies stuck pretty close to the reference, other than with that travasty that is the Hobbit movies.
