Eclipse Excitement
Added 2017-08-22 18:33:27 +0000 UTCI spent a good portion of last week patching together my micro-modular synthesizer gadgets (some of which were bought via your generosity, so thanks! or conversely, you have mainly yourselves to blame for this cacophony) to make a semi-procedural soundtrack for a video I planned to record of myself & my famous yard during the famous Eclipse of 2017. THIS IS THAT VIDEO, and these are those noises.
The music goes on for about another 2 minutes, with yet another additional synth sound which oozes into the mix about halfway through. I've posted it in its entirety here in my $3 music tier if you're curious and are willing to pay the HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PRICE of that curiosity.

I'm in Central Texas... we got a partial... I could see it on my own (I was using a blank cd to view it through... probably not smart, but I only took peripheral glances to check the progress)... I wasn't using any sort of filter on my camera.. I ran a timelapse with my gopro, but there was too much glare. Texas is supposed to be in the path of totality during the next one, in 2024. I'll prepare better and film that one.
2017-08-23 12:38:00 +0000 UTCReportedly, it's not good enough. The difference between 99.9% and 100% is exponential. Or so I hear; the only time I have gone to look at a total eclipse, thick clouds went there too.

Total eclipse crossed the entire country; been almost a century since the last time that happened, so a lot of Americans traveled to the nearest spot in the Path of Totality to see it. I stayed home because I thought 85% was probably good enough, but it really wasn't all that impressive.
