Ah, I remember carts well from the days when I cohosted 'Breakfast With "Bob" ' on WKDU in Philly...my usual sign off was "That'll hold the little bastards."

After that I was able to get on part-time with PBS and it was like working in a museum with a bunch of antique equipment. Low operating budget. I think a lot of the gear may have been donated.
2021-04-30 01:55:30 +0000 UTCNowadays all the music is digitized. Unfortunately most US radio stations are owned by huge media conglomerates. So the local voice talent doesn't spin records and read the commercials anymore. those are downloaded from the mothership and the talent has a play next button on the computer. Specialty shows may still be spinning records, but that is falling out of style. Independently owned stations, college stations, PBS, probably much like you depict here.
