The case of the missing images

I contacted the Help desk and they admitted that there did seem to be a problem with gif files displaying in "non supported browsers."  They did not indicate why it might have suddenly started happening, nor that there would be any attempt to fix it.  Their advice, which I pass on to you, is this:

Use Firefox, Chrome, or Edge and make sure it is the current updated version.

If you still have problems, contact the Help center.

An arguably more useful suggestion comes from RHüz, who discovered that the images magically showed up when the pages were viewed in an incognito window.  You might try that.

It's also possible that your adblock plug-in is not allowing Patreon to open gifs for some reason.  You could try turning off adblock for this site and see what happens.  I "whitelisted" Patreon years ago to solve some performance-related problem I don't even remember, and I've never seen an ad here nor had any vanishing-image issues.

if you upscale the images then people will see them, believe me. it sounds silly, but those "thumbnails" are no thumbnails, they are just dynamically scaled images, and by that i mean the browser is making an effort to upscale them, and for gifs some browsers support downscale but not upscale. 😅 so either add (a lot of) white margin or upscale them (see the upscaling program i liked to you last time, which gives several methods to upscale though XBR and reverse AA are the best in my opinion).

Patreon auto-generates those thumbnails. I don't have any control over them.

That is truly bizarre. Honestly though, this is a step up for the Patreon help center. Times before when I've dealt with them, their first response was always to deny that my problem existed. At least this time they acknowledged there was something going on.

try to upscale the images for the "thumbnail" and see if that actually helps. I noticed from the comments that people were not seeing only the small images

hm if you figure out pass it along. I use Brave which is a chrome based browser

In my case, AdBlock appears to be working fine. Ublock is blocking the gif images; it MAY be patreonusercontent.com getting blocked, I'm working on it here.

Okay, what they told you is wrong. I have two machines, both run Win7, both have Firefox, latest version. There is no difference between the machines, other than one is a gaming laptop and the other a desktop. Yet the desktop displays your images, and the laptop does not. So it's not the browser. It's them.
