the fiddle is the raised edge in ship tables and dinner trays, so if everything fits snuggly you have a lot to eat and will be in good health, or maybe it's just that if everything fits you don't lose food even in rough seas and therefore you can keep your health. That's how i imagine it anyway, i could be wrong.
