The new Population icon is inspired by a 1940s Spanish propaganda poster about men fighting while the family stays safe at home. Here another spin is put on that idea, with the hand of some unseen figure menacing over them, like a farmer about to harvest an egg from a henhouse. Which, given you can sell 1 Population to gain 1 Economy at any time, is pretty apt.
You'll see this icon on the cards that affect population, both Actions and Events.
