SOS2.5.11 is now up on Steam! (That's 11 updates for this month!)
New Splash screen is be me (Thain) on the background (planet, planetkiller, weapons fire, composition & shading) and 𝔸𝕝𝕝𝕖𝕘𝕣𝕒 𝕊𝕙𝕚𝕟𝕒𝕓𝕒𝕣𝕘𝕒𝕣 did the lineart and color for the character, "Sara Spacer." The rest is vanilla Rimworld elements to blend it in with official content (I think it's Ricardo Tome, who did the vanilla ship, as well as the Royalty art, but I'm not sure. I modified and painted over them for higher resolutions.)

The big one this update is an SOS Storyteller which controls events from Royalty and Ideology, as well as other mods that interfere with Space Events, either causing them to fail or misfire non-eva caravans in space. Other storyteller mods will still work just fine with SOS, but those unexpected caravans walking in from the edge of the map are bound to happen -- you've been warned.
Sara will also focus on Technology rather than wealth, and events coming from space to your ground map, reminding you to get up there. But as long as you're trapped in the tribal or medieval era, you'll probably be left alone by raids, but expect planet weather and events to be a constant plague, as the vile dirt is offensive to our spaceborn storyteller.

This is our last big feature after holograms and their compatibility patches. We are now free and clear for the foreseeable future to get back to work on Project Morningstar. :)
Combined with our hologram update:

And SOS2.5.11 is faster, better, and ready for the long term.
Now for the change log:
-Added "Sara Spacer" storyteller! Rather than using colony wealth, Sara sends raids based on the colony's level of technological sophistication, calculated from research projects completed and number of high-tech structures built.
-New "Afterlife Vault" scenario lets you start out with a pool of six holographic pawns - but only enough initial power to run one or two at a time.
-Added "Matter Optimization" research which allows your spore to gradually convert normal hull into archotech hull in an ever-widening radius
-Added "Ship Mayday" event where ground colonies can caravan to a nearby crash site and retrieve materials, goods, and even survivors from a downed ship - assuming they can put out the fires quickly enough
-Added SoS2 splash screen!
-Fixed compatibility with Humanoid Alien Races. Holograms constructed from aliens will still appear without add-on parts (for now) but this fix at least allows the mods to be used together.
-Fixed the latest holodeck glitches
-Fixed an issue where ship computer cores refused to scan
-Charlon Whitestone now properly clears his landing area
-Archolife animals are trainable as intended
-Probably fixed an issue with animal pen markers in space
-Fixed all archotech pillars being named Alpha
-Fixed landing/orbiting a ship resetting room temperatures
-Optimized engine trail damage calculation
- Added heat per second and other heat stats to heat sinks and vents.
-Fixed ship temperature failing to update on ship move
-More tool tips to help new players
-Revisited some object descriptions to help explain what they do more clearly
We think this 2.5.11 is the last major update for a while. The last major bugs are patched, most of the issues with mod compatibility have been fixed, combat has been rebalanced, and the art upgraded where it was needed most. Pair this with the last two posts and you have a major upgrade to SOS on 1.3!
Let us know if things have broken, and we'll hot fix them.
