I think this episode, and specifically the Teruko scene is intentionally confusing and made to catch you off guard. The reason Ii split up from his group is likely just because he suspected Iria and didn't want Tomo to be in potential danger. The scene with Iria and Ii discussing why murder is wrong was (kinda?) butchered in the anime. I think the central point still comes across but the scene just feels kinda messy because of all the cut dialogue. Kochen posted the full thing in the discord. But you're essentially understood what Ii was saying on a basic level. He isn't really arguing why murder is bad. He just thinks it's fundamentally wrong and thinks there's no excuse for it, no matter what. You can probably connect this to the concept at the start of the show of being absordbed by the world, or destroying the world and making it yours. The way I understand it, the reason Teruko knows Ii so well is because she relates to him. She does say the exact opposite, but she also seemingly lied about quite literally fucking everything or at least most of it, so my assumption is that she lied about her being different from him as well. She's just projecting.
