New Artwork: Magnolia

I wanted to do something quick and experimental. I had some of this wood board prepped from previous years. It's wood, painted with black acrylic, then topped with watercolor ground - a gesso/paper mix that lets me paint with watercolor on any surface. 6"x8", pretty small so limited detail possible.
I got this image from this Twitter post, with permission. Sometimes random photos people take really hit me. This was the depth of field, the contrast, and prominence of the flowers that got me. I reverse searched them to discover they are magnolias.
Hope ya'll having a lovely spring. It's finally warming up and the trees are in full bloom with all sorts of flowers. I love the scent of lilacs.
