Another one of my goals when starting a Patreon was going to more figure drawing. Whether it's once a year or once a month, any amount is better & the cost of doing that has been prohibited. I made a collection of options for workshops around the city. By far, Dr. Sketchy is the most fun because the models are costumed, themed, and switch costumes and undress so there is a lot to draw. These cost me between $12-20 a session, plus transportation & any snacks since the session itself is usually 3-5 hours depending on the day.
This is the first Dr. Sketchy I attended, so I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect. I brought inks and watercolor, since I've done that in the past at other workshops. It was a bit more overwhelming with the addition of fabric & different shapes, so I might keep it simpler for the future ones.
This one was disco-themed and they played appropriate music. It was a bit hard as I had a crappy angle, so a lot of drawings I trashed because they just weren't good. I did more drawings than this, but I selected the best ones. They're on the standard 9x12 or 8x10 bristol & watercolor.
I never know what to do with these after. For now, I'll just collect them. I might do a collage or take the best & put them together into a print. The one with the drape on the back shoulder also inspires me to maybe paint a bigger version.
