Added 2025-02-07 12:56:38 +0000 UTCHey! Yesterday, while talking with one of you, I had a bit of an inspiration regarding how to handle the customization of certain things.
As I’ve explained before, this animation and sprite system allows us to customize and add things on multiple levels. Among those things, there are accessories and hairstyles that I originally planned to include as part of specific outfits, but I avoided doing so because it didn’t seem very optimal. Plus, they’re elements that were meant to be added later on.
Here’s the thing: the best way to do this is to separate them again. Right now, the system has 3-4 layers at most, but I want to double that.
What does that mean? Basically, it would allow us to globally customize several aspects. For example, a hairstyle that applies to all outfits and scenes, or a lingerie set that includes all the set of piercings, change accesories, etc.
Yes, ideally, it would be amazing to also change makeup or specific high heels, but those are harder to implement considering the schedule—at least for this game. And I have others plans for that too.
The amount of drawing remains exactly the same, and accessories are simple to create, so this would only require a test using the debugger with a new scene that includes hairstyle changes, piercings, and accessories.
What really changes is the way we organize the work, which is why we need to decide on this now. CsC has already given the okay and says it’s easy to implement, and I agree as well.
But I need your approval and a test!
Also, this will delay the next release by at least a week.
