I believe it is similar here, Psychologists can prescribe meds so they go to school quite a bit longer. Tay is in school to be a therapist and she has to get a masters degree for that.

2024-11-27 00:48:49 +0000 UTCGlad you're getting through tbese episodes, my favourite episode is in series 2, a few episodes from this one. It has a character who's played by one of the minor characters in a Fawlty Towers episode- you might recognise him.

2024-11-26 12:04:17 +0000 UTCWe get to see how and where Frank meets Betty, it's such a sweet scene, but it is joyously funny. Michael Crawford's body language and physical expressions once again are just incredible, what a brilliant, wonderful, funny man. Some of the one liners are outrageously funny, that scene where Frank is asked about his relationship with his mother was a scream, and as for being blacklisted from confession, the writing was outstanding.

2024-11-26 07:23:40 +0000 UTCMichael CrawfordΒ recalled in 2023 that the horse trod on his foot as a way saying hello. He was unable to walk for a week as a result.

2024-11-26 07:15:46 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favourite episodes but, even though it contains some very funny moments, I can't help but find it very sad also. Frank's desperation to be accepted and liked and just to 'fit in' with other people is obviously mentally weighing him down so much, that a psychiatrist seems the only way forward. Michael Crawford plays him so brilliantly and truthfully, even when his delivering some of his most comedic lines, you can still see a pain in his eyes, a frightened, nervous sort of glare. The flashback to when he met Betty is heartbreaking, when his old bitch of an aunt starts trying to embarass him in front of her and destroys him verbally just for her own amusement, gives you an indication of the life he must have had. I know I'm going into one over what is supposed to be a comedy, but the best comedies always have elements of pathos (Steptoe and Son being the best by far) but here, I feel Frank IS the pathos to begin with.

2024-11-26 07:02:49 +0000 UTCIn the UK a psychiatrist has to do full medical school training as a Doctor before specialising in psychiatry. Psychologists and therapists do not have to go through the same level of training. Michael Crawford who plays Frank done all of his own stunts. He later went on to be a highly successful West End/Broadway actor who played the lead in Phantom of the Opera, winning many international awards including 2 Laurence Olivier awards and a Tony. He plays Frank so well though. Great actor, watch this video, it's so hard to believe it's the same guy https://youtu.be/d3NIK-nsI2g?si=YV9ESWo8-kzzCDGi
