Oh ok that makes sense about the tree stuff. I did enjoy it but I do think some other episodes were funnier.

Yeah they totally tossed that cat onto the table from offscreen! π Agreed with you and the comments' thoughts on this ep

I think the stuff they were injecting the tree was just nutrients to keep it healthy.
You're right, the episode was pretty convoluted and it definitely lacks the humour of the earlier episodes, especially when he had Maddy with him. Although I do actually like Joey.

I get what you mean when you say the humour seems to be lacking.
As much as I like Sheridan Smith as an actress, I think the character of Joey Ross is too upbeat and easygoing compared to the sarcasm and sass we got from both Maddie and Carla. Removing the clash of personalities between Jonathan and his sidekick also takes away from the humour. (In my opinion.)

Yes, agreed Josh - this episode has its moments but it was altogether too convoluted. It was great to see the lovely Sheridan Smith again and of course Doreen Mantle (Mrs Warboys from One Foot in the Grave.)
The entire set up framing Emily was wholly reliant on too many things that could have gone wrong and it worked purely by luck rather than judgement.
The reason for the set up kind of explained it but it was such a specific set of circumstances that it was nothing any viewer could hsve guessed.
The casting of Emily was kind of absurd. In 1987/88, she's supposed to be 17 but she's played by an actress who looks early 20s. 21+ years later, 2009, she's supposed to be 38/39, and played by an actress who looks 30 at most.
The actresses also looked absolutely nothing like one another but apart from that, spot on casting! π
Not one of the stronger episode and, alas, I do think The Grinning Man from last week was the last truly great episode of Creek.

You are right about this one Josh. It's all a bit contrived and there's not a lot of room for the audience to work out what's going on for themselves.
